Delhi MUN 2026 Concludes Its Inaugural Edition at Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University

For Immediate Release · New Delhi, India · August 2026

Delhi Model United Nations (Delhi MUN) successfully hosted its maiden edition on August 8–9, 2026, at Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi, bringing together over 300 delegates from 18+ Indian states and five countries across three continents. Spread across nine committees covering United Nations and Indian parliamentary agendas, the two-day conference established itself as a new benchmark for diplomacy, debate, and youth leadership in the Delhi NCR Model United Nations circuit.

An Inaugural Edition Built on Substance

Founded by Harsh Malhotra, Founder President of Delhi MUN, the conference was conceived as an institution rather than a one-off event. "We built the conference we wished existed," said Malhotra, reflecting on the vision that shaped the event from concept to execution. Delhi MUN assembled one of the most experienced Executive Boards in the Indian MUN circuit, ensuring that delegates across all nine committees engaged with agendas demanding rigorous research, negotiation, and strategic diplomacy.

Opening Ceremony and Committee Proceedings

The inaugural ceremony opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a classical dance performance welcoming delegates from across the country. A welcome address was delivered by Mr. Harsh Malhotra, Founder President of Delhi MUN, setting out the vision behind the conference. Secretary General Ms. Lakshmi Cairae formally declared the conference open, joined by local youth leaders who addressed delegates on their role in shaping India's future. Deputy Secretary General Divjyot Singh and Chef de Cabinet Avishi Daftari anchored the proceedings.

Over the following two days, delegates engaged in high-intensity committee sessions spanning humanitarian crises, international security, censorship, and domestic governance. Formal debate gave way to sustained lobbying, negotiation, and moderated caucusing as each committee developed its own dynamic, culminating in substantive resolutions by the close of the second day.

Closing Ceremony and Distinguished Address

The closing ceremony, anchored by Charge d'Affaires Namya Pandey and Director Operations Hitika Behel, brought the two-day conference to a close. The ceremony featured addresses by Founder President Mr. Harsh Malhotra and Chief Advisor Mr. Kshitij Tripathi, who reflected on the conference's proceedings and its significance for the delegates in attendance. Delegates and organisers were also addressed digitally by Mr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, who underscored the importance of platforms enabling young people to engage meaningfully with governance and diplomacy.

The Best Delegation award, recognising the most consistent and outstanding performance across committees, was awarded to Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS Noida). Secretary General Ms. Lakshmi Cairae delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the delegates, Executive Board, organising committee, and partners — including Power Sponsor IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) — who made the inaugural edition possible, before formally declaring the conference closed. The conference's official aftermovie, directed by Director General Yashraj Bhardwaj, captured the spirit of the two days for delegates and the wider MUN community.
